ABBOTT, JOHN B, Electric Light Plant. Was born in Mason Co. in
1847. He is a son of Henry Abbott, who came from England in 1842. In
1869 he married Miss Mary J. Ainsworth, P. O. Mason City.

ABBOTT, grain-dealer, farmer and stock-raiser; P. 0. Natrona ; was born in Mason
Co., Ill., June 10, 1846,. His father, Henry Abbott, and mother, Ann (Keen)
Abbott, were born in Lancashire, England, and emigrated to the United States a
short time previous to the birth of John B. The subject of this sketch, who was
raised to the occupation of farming, for the last three years has given much
attention to the buying and shipping of grain, requiring the use of two grain elevators in
Natrons. He married a daughter of Richard Ainsworth, of Mason City, Ill., Oct.
14, 1869; she was born in Lynchburg Township, in this county, July 8, 1849; they
have four children, viz., Richard Henry, born July 17, 1870; Albert Edward,
March 30, 1872; Ira, April 28, 1874, and Alice Myrtle, Dec. 11,1878. Mr. Abbott
is Treasurer of the school fund in this township, and owns 480 acres land in
this and Mason City Townships.
